A Duke of Edinburgh's Award or DofE programme is a real adventure from beginning to end. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from. You just need to be aged between 14 and 24 and realise there’s more to life than sitting on a sofa watching life pass you by.

You can do programmes at Bronze, Silver or Gold levels and you achieve an Award by completing a personalised programme of activities in four sections (five if you're going for Gold).

You'll find yourself helping people or the community, getting fitter, developing skills, going on an expedition and taking part in a week-long residential when you get to Gold level.

And probably the best bit? You choose what you do!

Your programme will be full of activities and projects that get you buzzing, and along the way you’ll pick up experiences, friends, skills and talents that will stay with you for the rest of your life. And apart from good exam results, its the best thing you can have on your CV!

Somerset County Council holds a DofE Operating Licence and we support education settings - schools, colleges training organisations - and community groups across Somerset to offer DofE. We also offer DofE programmes to Somerset County Council apprentices.

These pages provide information about where and how you can be involved in DofE. If you have any questions or want to talk to someone, please contact the county DofE office.
