The Youth & Community Officers support young people's participation and involvement, and help community groups to create youth clubs and sustain them once they're up and running.

Kirstie leads on:

  • Participation and helping organisations give their young people a voice
  • Developing and delivering bespoke training materials and resources for youth workers
  • Youth funding (including Youth & Community Group Grants)
  • 'Safe and Welcoming' quality assurance scheme
  • Accredited training for youth workers
  • Quality assurance and outcomes measurement in youth work
Kirstie also works with communities, helping them to turn their vision for their youth clubs into reality.
Kirstie has been a youth worker for 28 years and her experience includes running and developing youth clubs, various types of targeted project work, promoting participation for and with young people, and staff development and training. She has also written two books 'Words to the Wise: Successful Peer educations with Young People' (published by the National Youth Agency) and co-authored 'The Community Youth Club Handbook'. Kirstie has a first class BA (Hons) in Youth and Community Work, and various training and management qualifications.  


She is also (proudly) a mad cat lady, living with one moggy (Lilith) and two Maine Coons (Ethelred and Morpheus).
